Build a Sentence
Look at the picture and put the words in the right order!
What your child learns
- Reading word by word and building a sentence that makes sense: who, does what, to what
- Word order: "The girl drinks milk", not "Milk drinks the girl"
- A sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a period
- With the Vietnamese voice, kids build simple Vietnamese sentences instead
How to play
- Press "Play now". Look at the picture, then tap the word cards in order to put them into the sentence, or drag a card into a box.
- Tap a placed card to send it back. On a computer: Tab moves between cards, Enter places a card, Esc sends it back.
- When the sentence is full and right, the game reads it aloud. Full but in the wrong order? The sentence gets a yellow outline, so your child can swap cards around.
- Sure it is right? Press Done: if it is not, the cards in the right place stay and the rest go back.
- Build it right on the first try to earn a star.
For parents
- It starts with three-word sentences ("The cat sleeps.") and moves up to five words ("Mom rides a purple bike.") after a run of right answers.
- Every sentence has only one right order: no movable phrases like "today" or "on the bed", and no sentences where "a" and "the" could swap.
- Trying different orders is not counted as a mistake. Only pressing Done on a wrong sentence, or trying three different wrong orders, counts. After two mistakes the game reads the sentence aloud and the next card blinks as a hint.
- Play together: point at the picture and ask "Who is it? What are they doing?", then look for those words.
