For ages 5–8 · Math · Free · No ads

What your child learns

  • The order of numbers on a number line from 0 to 10, then up to 20
  • The number before, the number after and the number in between
  • Adding as hopping forward and subtracting as hopping back
  • Finding the missing number in sums like 7 + ? = 10 by counting hops

How to play

  1. Press "Play now" and listen to the question, for example "What comes after 4?".
  2. Tap the lily pad with the right number. The frog hops there and counts each hop aloud.
  3. For adding and subtracting, pick the pad where the frog will land, then watch it hop step by step.
  4. For missing numbers, tap one pad at a time to hop the frog to the flower and count the hops.
  5. On a computer, use the left and right arrow keys to pick a pad and press Enter.

For parents

  • It starts with "what comes after" within 10; after several right answers, before, between, adding, subtracting and numbers up to 20 appear.
  • A wrong pad sinks with a splash and is locked; after two wrong tries, the right pad glows as a hint.
  • Count out loud with each hop: this is the counting-on and counting-back strategy used in first grade.
  • Progress and difficulty are saved on this device.
